This UKQ UK Approved International Certificate in First Aid (Level II) course is designed for learners wishing to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding to enable them to provide appropriate care and manage life threatening conditions, minor illness and injuries. It is also ideal for people who have a specific responsibility to provide basic first aid in voluntary and community activities.

Course Content:

  • Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider
  • Be able to assess an incident
  • Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally
  • Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally
  • Know how to recognise and assist a casualty who is choking
  • Be able to manage a casualty
  • Be able to manage a casualty who is in shock
  • Be able to manage a casualty with a minor injury

  • Identify the role and responsibilities of a first aider
  • Explain why it is important to place an unconscious casualty into the recovery position
  • Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to an adult, child and infant
  • Automatic External Defibrillation (AED) practice
  • Anaphylaxis (severe allergic reaction) response using an adrenaline auto-injector
  • Treating shock, seizure and other debilitating ailments
  • Immobilisation techniques for addressing head and spinal injuries
  • Treatment of sprains, strains, fractures and dislocations
  • Describe how to minimise the risk of infection to self and others
  • Identify the need of establishing consent to provide first aid
  • Complete an accident report form
  • Identify the first aid equipment that should be available in a workplace
  • Describe the safe use of first aid equipment
  • Conduct a scene survey
  • Conduct a primary survey of a casualty
  • Assess a casualty’s level of consciousness
  • Open a casualty’s airway and check breathing
  • Management of bleeding along with appropriate bandaging
